Specific Expectations of Middle School Youth

  1. Regular worship with the family of Epiphany.
  2. Full and healthy participation in the Sunday afternoon Confirmation sessions.
  3. An NRSV Bible that the confirmand owns and that has his/her written notes in it.
  4. Full and healthy participation in the scheduled retreats and summer camp event.
  5. Participation in Middle School fellowship and service activities and in Sunday morning faith formation processes.
  6. Service as acolytes, crucifers, readers, communion assistants and other forms of worship leadership when asked to serve.
  7. An in-home conference involving those being confirmed and their parents in the spring before the Sunday on which we celebrate Rite of Confirmation.
  8. Expecting a GREAT year!
  9. For those being confirmed at the end of this year: You will write a brief statement of faith in your own words. You will be equipped to do this. You will meet one-on-one with your adult asset builders prior to the Rite of Confirmation and be prepared to answer the following:

            Who is God?

            Why does it matter?

What does it mean to me in my world?

            Who am I?

            Why am I here?

            What must I do?

            How shall I live?
