Foster Children's Foundation

New PFCF Heartartnership for Epiphany

The Foster Children's Foundation, based in Duluth, provides support for up to 1,200 foster children and families in the greater Atlanta area each year. The foundation is deeply concerned with providing hope, dignity, and sustainability to children who are in foster care.

Each month, FCF provides clothing and school supplies to foster families who often lack the resources to fully provide everything for their foster children. Additionally, FCF offers ongoing mentoring, love, support, fellowship, and life-skills training for young people. The foundation places special emphasis on equipping teens who are about to "age-out" of the foster care system.

Epiphany's new partnership with Foster Children's Foundation has three critical elements that will make it transformational both for the children served by FCF and for Epiphany people. It is missional -- our partnership contributes to the mission of FCF to improve the quality of life for foster children so they can establish a more stable foundation to help them reach their potential. It is relational -- our partnership provides the opportunity to build relationships with one another. When you have relationships that are built on solidarity, then each other's well-being becomes personal to the other. And it is incarnational -- by serving the precious children served by FCF, our horizons are expanded and we gain a different perspective of the community in which we live.

The need is great! Through the light of Christ, Epiphany can make a difference in the lives of foster children in our community.

FCF HeartBecome a Mentor to a Foster Teen. You can become a significant asset-builder in the life of a teen in foster care. The next training session for FCF's Tommorow Matters® Mentoring Program is Thursday, February 2, at 6:30 PM. We'll gather in Epiphany's fellowship hall. This session is open to the community - please spread the word to friends, neighbors, and co-workers!

Tomorrow Matters® is a dynamic, interactive program that empowers youth to reach their potential as they transition into adulthood. The program equips foster and at-risk teens with the tools, life skills, training, resources, and adult connections needed to become successful. The mentoring program focuses on foster youth that are between the ages of 14 and 21 years old. The immediate focus is on teens as they begin to "age out" of the foster care system. These youth are at a critical point in their lives when it is imperative that they have the life skills needed to prepare for adulthood. Many of the youth in foster care have relocated frequently and have not formed the asset-building bonds with adults or learned life skills essential for transitioning into adulthood.

Interested? Click here to register for the session on February 2. The first 30 minutes will be an orientation that will provide you with an overview of the mentoring program so you can decide if you want to commit to becoming a mentor.

You may contact Pastor Devin if you need further information prior to the session.

North Gwinnett Co-op

Epiphany is a partnering congregation with the North Gwinnett Cooperative, which serves residents of Buford, Suwanee, and Sugar Hill who are in need. The Co-op provides food, clothing, financial assistance, and spiritual support and collaborates with other organizations and programs within the community to identify and assist in meeting other needs.

Epiphany sponsors food drives throughout the year, as well as providing financial gifts to the co-op. Epiphany members also serve at the Co-op.
