The Epiphany Choir is a chorus of male and female voices in traditional soprano, alto, tenor and bass four-part harmony. This is a lively and spirited group of musicians committed to ministry through music. This cornerstone group of Epiphany’s ministry of music presents a variety of musical styles ranging from classical works to formal anthems, to spirited contemporary gospel music and Southern spirituals. The choir sings week-to-week in our worship services, providing musical strength for the congregation in hymns and liturgy. In addition, the choir presents extended musical works on festival days and in special seasons throughout the year. The choir will occasionally sing at the Wednesday services (7 p.m.) during the seasons of Advent and Lent. Directed by George Butler, rehearsals are every Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. Membership is open to anyone of high-school age and older.
The Men’s Chorus, also affectionately known as “The Epiph-tones” specializes in three and four-part music for male voices. Like the Epiphany Choir, musical styles range from traditional hymn and anthem arrangements to lively Southern spirituals. Audiences and congregations are never disappointed when they hear this electrifying group! The Men’s Chorus is directed by Mr. Steve Belfield. Membership is open to men of high-school age and older.
The Epiphany Handbell Choir, also known as the “Voices in Bronze,” is directed by George Butler and is hosted by Mr. Chuck Kretzmann. Epiphany owns a beautiful three-octave set of Malmark English Handbells as well as several octaves of tubular hand chimes. The bell choir participates and performs on festival days, and frequently provides glorious bell accompaniment to various elements of morning worship along with the Epiphany Choir. Membership is open for those of high school age and older. The ability to read music and understand rhythm is unquestionably helpful, but is not mandatory. An informal interview with Director Butler will help you find your place among our active handbell ringers.
Instrumental Music is alive and well at Epiphany! While we do not presently have a standing orchestra at the church, that day is not far off! Epiphany possesses a wealth of talent in the areas of wind, brass and string players of all ages! Currently our instrumentalists perform on guitar and bass guitar at the 8:30 service. Band and orchestra instrumentalists are assisting in the 11:00 AM service as they accompany the enthusiastic hymn singing of our congregation.
