Children 3

Children’s Summer Sunday School The Good Life!
On Sunday's through August 10th, Epiphany’s children will continue to explore life lessons that will encourage them to Do Justice, Cherish God’s Creation, Learn from the World Community, Nurture People, and Live Free in Christ.  This curriculum, adapted from a VBS program by Simple Living, promises to give our children a glimpse at what the Christian “Good Life” is all about!

On August 17th and 24th, we will begin to introduce the children to the Godly Play classrooms and the response process.

There will be no Sunday school for children and youth on August 31st (Labor Day Weekend)

Godly Play - coming this fall!

Epiphany will be embarking on a new Sunday School journey for our children this fall.  Godly Play is one component of Epiphany’s approach to Christian education and spiritual formation for Pre-School and Elementary-school-age children this year.  In Godly Play, the carefully prepared environment and the prepared adults who interact with the children combine to create an atmosphere where children learn:

  • How to “wonder” so that they can “enter” religious language.
  • How to create meaning with that language.
  • How to choose their own work as a response to the Christian narrative.
  • How Christians may seek to encounter God in community by experiencing educational time which is patterned after the liturgical worship experience.
  • How to work together in a spiritual community.
  • In an environment where the whole system of Christian language is constantly present and available to the child.

If you are interested in being a storyteller or a group facilitator with the children in the fall, please contact Kelli Jones at 770-831-1966 or email her at christianed@epiphanysuwanee.org.  The teaching teams will be participating in workshops in  August to prepare for this exciting new approach to religious education for the children of Epiphany.
