There are a lot of things I love about church! (I guess a pastor should say that!) But, one of my favorites was on full-display this weekend. We had 2 services on Thursday, 2 services on Friday, 3 services on Sunday, as well as choir rehearsal on Wednesday night, a community meal on Friday night, an Easter-Egg-Hunt Event on Saturday morning and Easter breakfast on Sunday morning! It was a full week! And the only way it was possible is because so many people made it happen. These are busy people! Their commutes alone feel like an extended stay in Purgatory! But, they all pitched in so that we could celebrate Holy Week and Easter and share the gift of the Easter story with so many people.

I believe we all want to be a part of something and few places allow us to be a part of something as meaningful as a church.

Early on in his ministry, one of the first things Jesus did was to invite folks to be a part of what he was doing. We call them disciples, and yes, one of their primary roles was to follow Jesus, but Jesus routinely invited them to do the same stuff that he was doing. He sent them out to do the same work that he was doing when 5000 people needed to be fed and he told them to provide the food. He routinely invited Peter, James, and John to experience things that would change their lives. They weren't just observers, they were participants.

I believe we all hunger to be a part of something too.

If you are looking for something to be a part of and you live in the North Atlanta area, swing by - we will find a way to get you involved. If you live somewhere else, find a local church that strives for this same sort of community involvement. From someone with a PhD in music playing cello, to a bunch of folks lugging chairs from the basement so that everyone could have a seat, to those who made sure communion was set up, and the flowers were just right, this Holy Week took an entire community to pull-off and I wouldn't have it any other way. To everyone who helped out, thank you! It is an honor to serve with you and I look forward to the next time we all get to come together and are a part of something that matters. Not as spectators, but those who make it happen. That happens every day.

Happy Easter!

Pastor Chris
